 Electron beam processing in semiconductor industry is using to improve the switching speeds for devices such as: fast recovery diodes, Insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT), Bipolar junction transistors (BJT), Power rectifies, Silicon control rectifies (SCR), high speed thyristors etc.

When semiconductors are exposed to beta rays, lattice defects are produced which permanently affect their switching behaviour. This causes a significant improvement in switching behaviour in certain semiconductor applications in power electronics.
